Here at The Bedford Mom we believe that moms deserve to be recognized and celebrated! This month we are so excited to feature Annie Black, a mom of two sweet kids. Read all about her below!
Tell us about yourself!
My name is Annie Black. I grew up in South Burlington, Vermont. I live in Bedford with my husband Aaron, our 2 year old Annabelle, our newborn Augustus, and our two dogs Lulu and Gina. We moved to Bedford in the spring of 2023 and absolutely love it.
Tell us about your work!
I was a math teacher before I had my kids. I taught at a middle school in Raleigh, NC for a year and a half and then taught high school math here in New Hampshire for 4 years. I miss teaching but I love being able to stay home with my kiddos.
What are your favorite local restaurants?
My favorite local restaurants are Flight (for the cronuts of course), Pressed, and the Tavern at the Bedford Village Inn.
What is your favorite way to practice self-care?
My favorite ways to practice self care are to get outside in the fresh air and sunlight and to read in a comfy chair.
What brought you to Bedford?
We moved to Bedford for the amazing schools and the location. We love being close to stores like Target and Whole Foods while also being close to hiking trails and farms.
What is your favorite thing about Bedford?
My favorite thing about Bedford is the community. Especially the community of moms. Everyone has been so welcoming. Even though Bedford has a large population, it really does feel like a small town.
What are your favorite local spots in town?
Our favorite spots in town are Joppa Hill Farm, MyGym, and the farmers market.
What is your best piece of advice for moms who are new in town?
My advice for moms that are new in town is to join the town library. They have activities and events for all ages. Annabelle loves the train inside and to run around the story walk.
What is your best piece of advice for expecting moms or new moms?
My advice for expecting/new moms is to surround yourself with other moms! Pregnancy classes, postpartum groups, tummy time classes, town stroller walks, library story times. It’s so comforting to talk to people that are going through the same thing as you and it’s a great way to make new friends.
