Here at The Bedford Mom we believe that moms deserve to be recognized and celebrated! This month we are proud to feature Deborah Donegan, a loving mom of three and devoted grandmother of three. Learn all about her below!
Tell us about yourself!
Hi! My name is Deborah Donegan. I live in Bedford with my husband, Dave and our golden retriever, Jack. I am a mom of three and a grandmother of three. We moved here in 2018 to be closer to our daughters and their families.
Tell us about your work!
I have a bachelors degree in Mathematics. I worked as a financial analyst and economic analyst until I had my children. After my children went to school, I worked at their elementary school for 18 years as a Substitute/Special Education Para. When Covid hit, I decided to stay home and watch my grandchildren.
What are your favorite local restaurants?
Our favorite restaurants are Murphy’s Taproom, Bedford Village Inn and the 1750 Taphouse. We also love the Inside Scoop!
What is your favorite way to practice self-care?
My favorite way to practice self care is going to York Beach, Maine and walking the beach. I also love going to the spa to get a facial and my nails done.
What brought you to Bedford?
We moved from Atkinson to Bedford in 2018 to be closer to our two daughters and their families.
What is your favorite thing about Bedford?
My favorite thing about Bedford is how close we are to our grandchildren and the proximity to shopping.
What are your favorite local spots in town?
My favorite local hiking trails are Wildcat Falls and Pulpit Rock. I also love shopping at HomeGoods and HomeSense. When I have the grandkids, we visit the Bedford Public Library and Joppa Hill Farm.
What is your best piece of advice for moms who are new in town?
My advice for moms new to Bedford is to sign up for library group or check out the Bedford Recreation Department. Recently, the grandkids and I went to Ms. Jenn’s art classes at the Bedford Town Hall. I met an amazing group of moms there.
What is your best piece of advice for expecting moms or new moms?
My advice for new moms is you don’t have to do it all. Find other moms with kids and help each other out. Sometimes you just need to know what you are going through is normal. Women supporting other women is how we all become stronger.
