Here at The Bedford Mom we believe that moms deserve to be recognized and celebrated! This month we are SO excited to feature Jenelle Acosta, a mom of three sweet kids. Check out our interview with her below!

Tell us about yourself!
Jenelle is a stay at home mom of 3 (10 year old boy and 4.5 year old fraternal twins). She is married to her husband, Onan. Like many great moms, her greatest goal in life is to help her kids be the best they can be. During my interview with her, I was so impressed with her wisdom and perspective on life. It was like talking to an older sister!

Tell us about your work!
Jenelle has dabbled in a few different things over the years, but themes of mentorship and artistry run throughout her journey. She found herself being drawn to the beauty field: makeup artist and hairdresser. She eventually taught hair school, where she loved mentoring her students. While she worked as a hairdresser, she also drove busses for transportation services at U Mass Lowell. She worked there for 10 years and worked her way up to the manager position. She admits she wasn’t passionate about transportation, but she really enjoyed working with young people, giving them advice, and helping them navigate through their life.
What is your favorite way to practice self-care?
Jenelle admits that she is not good at that (so relatable!). After some thought, she shared she loves to watch trash TV and is a BRAVO-aholic. As long as she has a DVR that works, she’s happy!

What brought you to Bedford?
Jenelle was drawn to Bedford for the reputable public schools here in town.
What is your favorite thing about Bedford?
Jenelle’s favorite thing about Bedford is the school district. She shared she is very impressed with the school system. One of her sons attended the BEEP program and received services for a speech delay. Her other son has an IEP for ADHD. She said the educators are amazing to work with!
What are your favorite local spots?
Jenelle’s favorite restaurants in town are Pressed and T-Bones. She also likes Cowabungas (she said it’s half-price on Wednesdays) and the McDonalds with an indoor playground. Those are a big hit with her kids!

What is your best piece of advice for moms who are new in town?
Jenelle said, “Don’t be afraid to push yourself out of your comfort zone. People are worried that they aren’t going to find people like them or who vibe with them. Be active and meet people! It’s great to see faces in town that you recognize.” She went on to say, “People are just as nervous as you at meeting people. We think people are judging us. Everyone is feeling that way. Get out there and make friends!”
What is your best piece of advice for expecting moms or new moms?
Jenelle shared, “Take all of the advice you can get and find out whatever works for you because every child is different and every mother is different and every family’s needs are different.” She added, “Don’t be so stuck and set in an idea because one day something could work and then even later that day it isn’t working anymore. You have to eb and flow with that.” She also encouraged moms to get all of the free stuff they can get. Hand-me downs are great!
