Tell us about yourself!
My name is Jeremie Simmons… I am a lucky husband and father of three beautiful girls. I am originally from Golden Colorado, but spent much of my younger days in the Blue Ridge Mountains, just outside of Charlottesville Virginia, before finally settling down in New Hampshire. After working for several different construction firms over the years, I decided to start BDP LLC for myself in 2017… bringing my collective experiences and expertise together under one roof.
Tell us about your business!
BDP LLC is a remodeling firm that offers both design and construction services to our clients. We handle all sorts of projects, from kitchen & bathroom renovations, basement finishes, additions, and open concepts… to our Deck Division, which specializes not only in decks, but also sunrooms, screened porches, pavilions & pergolas… essentially any type of outdoor structure!
What does a “day in the life” look like for you?
As owner of the company, a “day in the life” means busy! Whether visiting job sites to check on progress, or meeting with clients, or visiting showrooms to select products, or putting together final revisions on an upcoming project design… there is always something to do! The list goes on and on. Still being considered a small business owner, I’m sure that I’m guilty of… as with many others… wearing too many hats sometimes!
What are your goals for your business in the next 3-5 years?
Over the last 3-5 years I have seen the business grow substantially… and I certainly hope to continue to see this over the next 3-5. I don’t necessarily mean always increasing volume… sometimes too much can start to deteriorate the processes. More so, I hope to see our client base continue to grow… the size & scope of our projects… and the reputation we have strived so hard to achieve. This allows us to be a bit more selective in our work, offering only the best for our clients and their homes.
What are your most popular projects?
These days it seems that a lot of people are deciding to utilize their outdoor living spaces more… from creating beautiful outdoor kitchens, with pavilions over the area to extend the amount of usable time… to lanai’s that bridge the entertainment areas of interior & exterior… to all manners, shapes, and sizes of gorgeous decks, offering customized lighting and various other aesthetically pleasing options. Luckily these tend to be our favorite types of projects as well… where everything is almost always unique in one fashion or another, and our creativity gets to shine!
What is your best piece of advice for people looking to start a business?
To anyone looking to start their own business, I say go for it! Of course do your due diligence beforehand… make sure you have and understand your own business model before trying to explain it to others. But once that aspect is in place… don’t let fear or anxiety stop you! Hard work will get results.
