Tell us about yourself!
My name is Marianna Nielsen, I live in Bedford with my husband and three boys. I’m originally from Ukraine and moved to US in ‘04, and to Bedford from the Washington state in 2017.

Tell us about your work!
I own a small custom sewing and alterations business and I like to design and make wedding and evening dresses. I also do a lot of alterations on prom and special occasion gowns. For the last four years I’ve participated in the New England Fashion Week to show some of my designs. In my free of sewing time I like to make jewelry and do cross stitching.
What are your favorite local restaurants?
For special occasions we usually choose Copper Door, but for more casual outings I like Pressed Cafe and Evviva Trattoria.
What do you like to do for fun?
I like exploring new places near and far, hiking, learning Spanish and spend time with friends.
What is your favorite way to practice self-care?
To recharge, I like to go for walks, read and do gardening.
What brought you to Bedford?
We moved to Bedford from the west coast to be closer to family. We wanted to be close to a big city that we can fly in and out of, yet far enough to have a quieter pace of life.
What is your favorite thing about Bedford?
Bedford is great for kids, we love our schools. We’ve met great friends and are within an hour of mountains, coast and the city. We love Bedford.
What are your favorite local spots in town?
We love the library, and also the pond and trails in our neighborhood.
What is your best piece of advice for moms who are new in town?
Joining a book club and going to community events is a great way to meet new people.
What is your best piece of advice for expecting moms or new moms?
Joining mom groups is a perfect way to find your tribe.
