The Bedford Mom of the Month: Mallory Sigler

Here at The Bedford Mom we believe that moms deserve to be recognized and celebrated! This month we are proud to feature Mallory Sigler, a mom of two and the owner of Sugar Love Baking.

Tell us about yourself!

My name is Mallory, and I’ve been a Bedford resident for almost 6 years. I moved here with my husband Dave and our two children, Savannah and Kaiden. Our kids attend McKelvie and Riddle Brook schools as 5th and 4th graders. We are pet lovers with 4 adopted rescue dogs and a rescue kitty. I own Sugar Love Baking with my husband.

Tell us about your work!

I started Sugar Love from home over 10 years ago, but only as a hobby and side job. I’ve always loved creating delicious and beautiful cakes for my friends and local community. An opportunity to move to a space with a store front became available, and with the support of my husband, family and friends, I made the leap to leave my corporate job and switch to baking full time. I have an amazing team at the bakery and couldn’t do it without the support of my community.

What are your favorite local restaurants?

My favorite local spots are Inside Scoop, Flight Coffee, Copper Door and La Carreta if I venture to Manchester.

What is your favorite way to practice self-care?

My favorite way to practice self-care is to do a Peloton workout and to go get my hair done at Luxe at BVI!

What brought you to Bedford?

My family moved here for the school district almost 6 years ago, and couldn’t be happier with that choice.

What is your favorite thing about Bedford?

Our favorite thing about Bedford is the wonderful people we have met. We really feel the sense of community here and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.

What are your favorite local spots in town?

Local spots you’ll find us at are The Educational Farm at Joppa Hill, Wholistic Pet, Copper Door, The Wicked Good Butchah and Trader Joes.

What is your best piece of advice for moms who are new in town?

One piece of advice I have for new moms in town is to try to reach out to neighbors or other moms at school. It can be hard to make friends as an adult, but I am so grateful for every relationship I’ve built since moving here. Try to attend an event or two that may be outside your comfort zone- you’re more than likely to meet someone great!

What is your best piece of advice for expecting moms or new moms?

My biggest advice for new or expecting moms is to utilize the many Facebook groups we have in town for help and advice, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. This community is so helpful and so generous, remember that you’re not alone.
