Local Business Spotlight of the Month: The Neat and Tidy Space

Here at The Bedford Mom we love sharing about and celebrating local businesses! This month we are excited to feature The Neat and Tidy Space, owned and created by Melissa Stutz, who is a New England native, living in New Hampshire. Her passion for organization is inspiring, and as a Mom of two boys, she has learned how systems and structures allow for more time for activities she enjoys most with her family. The Neat & Tidy Team believes home organization should be practical. She spends careful time getting to know client’s needs to provide customized solutions within their budget. Learn all about Melissa and her awesome business below!

What types of spaces do you organize?

We organize ALL spaces, and focus on the ones that are causing a family (espically the Mama) to feel the most overwhelmed. Our role is to come in and see what isn’t working, so we can come up with ideas and systems that will work and be maintainable for everyone.

What are the different services you offer?

We offer a variety of services including One Space Services: where we declutter and implement a system for that particular space.  The Whole House Services: where we declutter, relcoate & reogranie every space in the house, all in one month.  Everything gets a home, a bin & a label.  No more guessing where anything lives.  A Tidy Up Service: Once you are a client and we’ve created a space in your home, we will come back and Tidy Up that space on a weekly, monthly or seasonal schedule.  We also do Move in Services, Unpacking Services & New Baby Services.  All are created to reduce the overwhelm that comes from a life changing event, and create ease from the beginning.

What towns/cities do you serve?

We services the New England area, including Southern NH to the Coast and everywhere in between.

How involved are your clients in the organization process?

Clients can be as involved or uninvolved as they would like. We always ask that they have some availability to be present for the declutter portion of our services. This allows us to create space by removing the items you are no longer using.  Once we know what the client would like to keep, we can easily implement the organizing system and leave the client feeling less stressed.

What do you enjoy most about your job? What are your favorite types of projects?

We Love ALL aspects  and spaces of our job.  And love that each day is a different space.  If we had to pick one space to work in, it would be a pantry and playroom.  Both of these spaces can be transformed just by adding the proper product.  We don’t take it lightly that people can feel overwhelmed or embarrassed by allowing someone into their homes, to see their mess. We value our time together and often feel like we gain friends and family in the process.  The best part is hearing from our clients, that they are feeling less overwhelmed in their own homes, are maintaining the systems and finding more time to relax with their families instead of stress over the stuff.

What is your best tip for maintaining a tidy home?

When it comes to maintaining your space we also encourage people to start a weekly, monthly and seasonal practice.  You’ve tackled the project, and to prevent it from building up again, you want to implement the practice.  Go back through your pantry on a monthly basis to toss what has expired or what isn’t being used. Look through your clothes seasonally to decide what you aren’t wearing, what doesn’t fit anymore or what you no longer like.  Declutter your holiday decor that you don’t put out, chances are you won’t use them next year and could pass them on to someone who would.  The more you walk through your space, seeing the stuff, the easier it is to detach and donate, giving you back the space you’ve always wanted without the stress of the stuff.
