Here at The Bedford Mom we believe that moms deserve to be recognized and celebrated! This month we are proud to feature Tori Spindel Rubin, an expecting mom with a toddler at home. Learn all about her below!

Tell us about yourself!
My name is Victoria (Tori) Spindel Rubin. I live with my sports addict husband Jeff and my adorable 2 year old daughter Summer. We are expecting a baby any day now! I am a dentist during the day, but love to cook, bake (i’ve got a secret sweet tooth), and create art in my free time! Before dentistry, I worked as a fashion designer for Isaac Mizrahi and Kate Spade, but you could never tell because I wear sweatpants all around town. I enjoy visiting Lake Winnipesaukee during the summer and skiing in the winter. I love to spend time with my family doing anything and everything!
Tell us about your work!
I went to Carnegie Mellon University and studied fine art and biology. I followed my dream to NYC to become a fashion designer for Isaac Mizrahi and Kate Spade, but found myself wanting to do something different. I figured, my mom is a dentist and is the happiest person I know so… I guess I’ll go to dental school! I studied at Tufts Dental School and joined my mother’s practice in 2014. We work together at Spindel General and Cosmetic Dentistry in the North end of Manchester and treat many wonderful families. We pride ourselves on being the friendliest dentists we can be! I love to use my artistic background to sculpt and design teeth and help to make people feel more confident in their smile. I also love treating children and helping them love visiting the dentist! My patients are my family and I hope to give them the best care!
What are your favorite local restaurants?
I grew up eating at the Puritan Backroom daily with my grandparents. My grandfather would sneak us there after school and we would get ice cream and then my grandfather would tell the waitress if he came back later for dinner to tell my grandmother he ate a tuna sandwich. We always celebrated A’s on tests, home runs in softball and even engagements and babies with a brownie sundae! Currently I don’t know how I ever survived before Pressed Cafe opened right around the corner from my house. I love their salads and breakfast, and my daughter has a great time eating there too! She loves the smoothies! Flight cafe makes my favorite coffee and cronuts in the area! The eggplant pizza from Pizza Bella is also a family favorite!
What is your favorite way to practice self-care?
Does eating ice cream on the couch count? Or getting drive-through blizzards from DQ while my daughter naps in the car? I don’t have too much time for alone times these days, but I really enjoy a weekend away at Lake Winnipesaukee with my family. Although there isn’t much lounging with a toddler, it makes me happy to not have any paperwork around and all the laughter and smiles from my daughter are the best therapy!
What brought you to Bedford?
We moved here for the great schools and close location to my office and family.
What is your favorite thing about Bedford?
I have loved getting to know my neighbors! Everyone has been so friendly and welcoming. My daughter was born the first week of Covid and somehow I met some of my favorite people during the isolation. Strangers offering us clothing and toys became great friends. We would walk daily with our children (on different sides of the road) around the neighborhood and continue to hang out with our families all the time! All our husbands and kids are buddies now!
What are your favorite local spots in town?
I love bringing my daughter to the children’s programs at the library and art class with Ms. Jen at town hall. We love feeding the animals at Joppa Hill Farm and going to the playground. We always meet such great people there! I love Pressed Cafe and Flight, and I think the Market Basket in Bedford makes the best grilled cheese sandwich and Fruit Tart. I love a night outside at the firepit in the fall at Bedford Village inn.
What is your best piece of advice for moms who are new in town?
Everyone once was new in town – so even if you think we already know enough people, we are always looking for new friendly faces to know and spend time with! It’s hard to make friends when you’re grown up – we all feel the same way! If all else fails, send your husband out with your child. My husband watches our daughter and has a 100% “mom friend for me” pick up rate – I always get random texts while I’m at work from moms saying “I met your husband he says we should be friends.”
What is your best piece of advice for expecting moms or new moms?
Can someone help me with this one? I’m still trying to figure out 1 child and I’m going to have 2 very soon! I always just tell myself “everyone else did this so I can too!”…and then I call my mom or grandma for help! One of my favorite things we did was start a small playgroup once a week with moms and children. It’s been fun to look forward to a weekly activity! We also are always texting crazy kid/husband questions to each other! No judgment here!
